Crain’s Recognizes Land & Lakes VP as One of the Top Women in Environmental Management
Park Ridge, IL – Land & Lakes Company VP Mary Margaret Cowhey has been recognized by Crain’s environmental publication, Waste & Recycling News, as one of the top 25 women in the environmental industry.
Mary Margaret Cowhey has been an environmental manager for over 18 years with Land & Lakes Company. Waste & Recycling News acclaimed Mary Margaret as a significant player in her sector including her on its selective list of women climbing the environmental management industry ladder. Mary Margaret expanded the company’s core landfill business into waste hauling and recycling. Mary Margaret also became the first woman elected to the Executive Committee of the National Solid Wastes Management Association and quarterbacked the national “Environmentalists Everyday” campaign. She is a founding member and past president of The Environmental Industry Association’s Women Council. Waste and Recycling News quotes her as saying “When the general public perceives us as innovative protectors of the environment, then we’re doing our job right.”
